Sexual desires are physical-emotional urges of a human being. Both satisfied with physical senses though. It’s there in the society, ever since human beings have turned in to social Animals. 

With the formation of Moral structures, restrictions to these free will physical pleasures were imposed upon by certain laws of the society.

This has enhanced the deprivation of physical pleasures to an individual. In the moral driven society therefore, sexual starvation naturally became inevitable. Those restrictions on sex in terms of relation, age, gender, group, tribe, caste, religion, state, country & so with introduction of marriage & extra marital rules have enhanced these restrictions further. Assumptions like premarital, bigamy, masturbation & so became immoral. With the concept of morality, tied with the culture, the restrictions stayed put in the form of laws.

Laws of the civilized world have restricted the sexual desires of an individual to such a limit…

 
that the outburst of these desires in offending/ law breaching ways became regular.

That’s how Adultery, Bigamy, Molestation & Rape etc. became part of the civilized society.

DECISION MAKING, (MY TAKE)…


 “Stop Worrying about Making the Right Decision.”
‘Making a decision’ is more important than making ‘Good’ decisions and
“our focus on making the “right” decision can easily lead to paralysis.”

In my training sessions I believe in simplifying the content of any of my subject to help one & all entry levels.

Here’s my take on Decision making:

1) Everyone needs to make decisions at one time or other. There’s no escape way, so be prepared.

2) Decisions making arise at time when there are at least two or more options exist.

3) No decision is ever made with a single option. When it appears, there’s always a second option of ‘Not Making’ a decision is available, which itself is a 'decision' under certain circumstances.

4) There is no tagging on the decisions beforehand, so there’s No Good or Bad decision at the time of taking one, rest there’s something like a ‘Best’ decision.

5) Every decision has some consequences attached to it. Your job is to analyze them & opt for the most reasonable one.

6) Except in certain cases, passivity or ‘Not taking a decision’ is cumbersome & often turn in to pathetic end results.

7) Every decision comes with 50-50 chance of you being ‘Right or Wrong.’ There’s no Bias.

8 ) A decision once made can be undone at the cost of Time, Capital & Resources wasted.

9) Finding the ‘Best’ solution leads to ‘Analysis Paralysis.’

10) From point one to nine it’s clear that a decision taken is opting for the most reasonable way approach to a particular task. Once opted for, sticking to the decision is second and putting all efforts to make the decision ‘Best’ is the third important way to follow.

Satyakatha- Adoption of White Liars.

White Liars- Peter Shaffer

White Liars by Peter Shaffer is an act of revelation. Revelation of truth that is, in the backdrop of the mysterious world of a fortuneteller, who really wants to help a customer. One who’s repenting his decision to bring in to his life & musical world a friend, a singer who has stolen the heart of his girlfriend. Now he wants the fortuneteller to convince the friend about all the misfortunes that may fall unto him, if he stays with the girl. To add faith in to the story, he provides the fortuneteller with all the details of his friend’s ex-life.

Once the plot sets up, an interesting act of revelation of Truth & lies unfolded to the viewers. Where it confuses the Characters, what’s true and what’s not.

While adopting, I took the Character of Baroness out from its European & Egyptian background & post her in the foreground of some forbidden temple on the outskirts of a city. Though I used the Indian classical music as background & profession of the characters as a support to the backdrop, I kept the Egyptian Crystal ball as it is, just for the sake of its visual grandeur.

The act was performed with the name of ‘Safed Jhooth’ & later changed to ‘Satyakatha’ as I felt; it’s the more appropriate title to the plot.

According to me, the act is yet unexplored.

 A one-act farce by Anton Chekhov, written in 1888-1889

The farce explores the process of getting married with sworn enmity, the Neighbor. The satire could easily be related with the marriages in middle & upper middle class with all the economical greed involved. Marriage is a means of economic gain for most people. They marry to gain wealth and possessions or to acquire social acceptance.

It so happened that at around 8.00 pm, I was informed by Dheeraj- that A Tribute to Chekhov is planned at NCPA, performing his acts and if I can do anything with ‘The Proposal’? I’d read Chekhov sometimes back but have no copy in possession. I asked when the script is needed- he replied, “We are performing, five days from now. If you give script within two days, we shall manage. I told him to collect the script, the next day morning, from his mail box, which I promptly did.

While adopting I took the premise to Chandausi near Delhi. A perfect location for the battlefield between the Chaudhary vs Thakur. I further use Hariyanvee a bit to add spice but left Punjabi of Thakur to plain Hindi. The performers further added the colloquial accent to all the characters, making the act hilarious.

Including this localization of premise, lingo & characters my contribution to the act is adding the cell ring tone hook, Dialogues with the Dog & the ‘Powdered wine’ stuffed in ‘Asthma spray.’

                                           The Concept.

26.11.2008 has now become as Black November day
in the history of India as Mumbai, the commercial capital of
India had witnessed the worst ever terrorist attack till date.
We suffered great commercial loss, death of innocent
people and noble police & military officers. 

Who did this and
why? Is a question, answer to which all of us know by now.
But we as a nation have come out of this attack on humanity
with flying colors of integrity, humanity and patriotism. ‘Dus
mein se ek’ is the story of this victory of good over evil, the
love over the hate and humanity over self centered behavior. It
gives us the message that evil has no religion no ism or no
nationality and it is the same with humanity. While sailing
so, we also have a chance of looking in to the core concept
of any religion, Islam here for the sake. And we come out
with the golden words, 

“Oh Son of the soil, love this
land as it is what have created you, it is what have
nourished you and to here where you are to rest…
amen”

( Won First Prize in Hindi One Act competition in the year 2010 in  Bangalore.  Winning Prizes for the Best Play, Beast Direction, Best Actor, Best Actress & Best Supporting Actor. The one act is translated & performed in Kannada & also Broadcasted on AIR. )

CARROM TOUCH & BRUSHES!

Sure the BEST indoor game of all.  Watched many great players at Wanmali Hall & when we organized an interstate tournament. Duri ng those days, I was lucky to see stalwarts of the game, playing with each other.  The Game of Blocking, Brushin, Double & Skills ! Break to finish, Start to finish were common!  The likes of Suhas Kambli, Arun Deshpande, Ramesh Chitty, Iqbal Khan (was friend) were Awesome! My memories with the board are closely  bonded with our society Ganeshotsav. For three long months we were in the society hall for most part of the day.  Babu, Bhaskar, Kiran, Dr. Dan, Chimana were the Champions.  Ganapati days are here again & I am seeing the brightly lit boards in my mind !

Here I remember my early days with BEST at O & M (North) Wadala with friend Sadu Shinde from Lalbaug. As our job was related to load distribution & overload monitoring, we used to have ample time to play Carrom & TT at the Gymkhana. My partner, Sadu Shinde was ace Champion. So in the Gymkhana (Mostly invaded by Drivers & Conductors in Uniform) we used to lay our Cob Web, by sitting & striking the coins anywhere but in to the pocket! This was the trap! Drivers/ conductors watching us playing, then used to come forward & propose a bait game, for which we reluctantly used to agree. Misal Pav @ Wadala depot canteen was 'Yahoo' during those days and usually a lure for the game. Once the bait is placed, Sadu used to go wild & finish the game in three boards to fill our tummies with the Green hot Misal ! We were licensed Cheaters then, and soon drivers/ conductors started avoiding us in Gymkhana area saying, "Are basu naka, te numbari cheaters aahet !!"

पवार मास्तर- ३

          

         खेळाडू असलो आणि म्हणून सरांना जवळचे असलो, तरी  शिस्तीचे खाते सरांकडेच होते.  त्यातून आमच्या सारख्या बेशिस्तांची सुटका नव्हती. त्यामुळे मार खाणे अधून-मधून होतच असे. शाळा घरा जवळच म्हणून जरा रेंगळलो , उशीर झाला की सर  गेटवर... हातात 3 पट्ट्या. शाळे समोरचा रस्ता 100 एक मीटर अगदी सरळसोट. म्हणजे शिकारी आणि शिकार एकमेकांना मिनिट- दोन मिनिटे तरी न्याहाळत असत. पोर कल्पनेनेच खलास. आणि सर ?... हा मुलगा-मुलगी कोण आहे.. एकंदर शिस्तीला कसा/शी  आहे? अभ्यासात-खेळात कसा/शी  आहे ? याची गणिते जुळवून असत. उशीर झाल्याचा मार सगळ्यांना पडताना दिसायचा. बाहेरून सार्‍यांना एकच न्याय दिसायचा. फक्त मार खाणार्‍याला कळायचे- सरांनी आपल्याला मारलेच नाही.  नुसते मार दिल्याचा आव आणला आणि पट्टीचा मोठा आवाज केला. आणि बेशिस्त मुलाचा मात्र हात लाल- निळा व्हायचा.  हे सरांचे आणि आमचे गुपित होते. बाहेर अगदी मुख्याध्यापकांना ही याचा पत्ता नसेल.

         अभ्यासात सरांमुळे आम्ही कधी नाही ते थोडे हुशार वगैरे  वाटू लागलो होतो. आता वेळ होती, खेळाच्या मैदानावर सरांना हवे ते निकाल मिळवून देण्याची. त्यावेळी जोगेश्वरी ते दहिसर आंतरशालेय खेळांची चॅम्पियनशिप भरायची... आम्हाला ती ढाल मिळवायची होती. सर आमच्यावर कामाला लागले. दिवसभर अंधार पडेस्तोवर मैदानात.  मोठी मुले खो-खो, कबड्डी, हाय- लॉन्ग जंप, रनिंग, जॅव्हलीन थ्रो, डिस्कस थ्रो यांचा सराव करत, मुलींचाही सराव चाले. ग्राऊंड झाडणे, रेषा आखणे, मातीवर पाणी मारून ती बसवणे, ही कामे पोरे सकाळी मोठ्या उत्साहात करायची. दोन अडीचशे मुले-मुली  एकावेळी मैदानावर असतील. पण कुठे बेशिस्त नाही, वाद-भांडण नाही. छेडाछेड नाही.   सगळ्यांचे लक्ष एकच, परफॉर्मन्स उंचावणे.  सर खरोखर खेळांतले बेताज बादशहा होते.  त्यांच्या एक-एक ट्रिक्स आणि टिप्स आम्हाला  लगेच सरावात प्रयोग करायला लावत. जमले नाही तर करून दाखवत. पुढे थोडे वय झाल्यावर त्यांनी आमच्यातील माजी विद्यार्थ्यांवर हे काम सोपवले. पण तरीही स्वत: मैदानावर कधी ही, त्यांना बसलेले कुणी पाहिले नाही. सतत या पिच वरुन  त्या पिचवर फेर्‍या. दुर्दैव या देशाला खेळांची परंपरा नाही ! सतत दोन महीने आमचा सराव सुरू होता.  आम्ही आपापसात सराव सामने खेळत असू. सरांच्या मेहनतीचे फळ दिसू लागले होते. संघांचा दर्जा उंचावला होता. 

         बोरिवली पश्चिमेला सेंट फ्रान्सिस शाळेच्या मोठ्या मैदानावर या स्पर्धा होत्या. आम्ही गेलो की 'चोगले' ची मुलं किंवा पवार सरांची मुलं म्हणूनच सारे ओळखायचे. दबदबा होता आमचा एक... आमचा आणि दहिसर विद्यामंदिरचा सामना टफ व्हायचा. स्पर्धा सुरू झाल्या. आम्ही आणि छोट्या मुलींनी लंगडी स्पर्धा जिंकली. मोठ्या मुलांनी आणि मुलींनी खो-खो स्पर्धा जिंकल्या. कबड्डीत आम्हाला फायनलला सेन्ट फ्रान्सिसच्या संघाने हरवले. नेल्सन , पोल्सन , रॉबर्ट वगैरे धिप्पाड पोरे समोर, तरी आम्ही त्यांना टफ दिली. आमचा बेस्ट प्लेयर सतीश रेवाळेची पकड करणे त्यांना जमत नव्हते. शेवटी रॉबर्ट  साखळी सोडून जमिनी सरशी बसून गर्दीत लपला. सतीशला दिसला नाही. मागून येऊन त्याने पकड केली. सतीशची पकड झाली आणि आम्ही हरलो. गोविंद देसाई आमचा बेस्ट खो-खो पटू आणि मुलींत वीणा सावंत, महाराष्ट्र राज्यासाठी निवडले  गेले. हाच गोविंद बेस्ट स्प्रिंटर होता. ते ही मेडल त्याने आणले. उंच उडीत आमचा एक्का प्रकाश (पक्या) सावंत. हा अगदी सरळ धावत स्ट्रेट बॉडी हाय जंप मारणारा मी पाहिलेला पहिला आणि शेवटचा खेळाडू.  तो पक्षासारखा हवेत उडायचा. 5'.4" हा त्याने स्पर्धेत तेव्हा केलेला रेकॉर्ड. आणि आम्ही जनरल शिल्ड जिंकली. बहुतेक स्पर्धात आम्ही विजेते किंवा उपविजेते होतो. सरांनी एक टारगेट समोर ठेवले आणि मेहनतीने ते साध्य केले होते. आमचे संघ  जेव्हा  समोरच्यांची  हालत करून टाकायचे, तेव्हा सर कधीच पुढे -पुढे करताना दिसले नाहीत. ते कायम मागे, गर्दीत कुठेतरी, कुणाला दिसणारही नाही अशा ठिकाणी उभे असायचे. जी काय मेहनत करायची ती मी दोन महीने केलेली आहे, पुढे सगळं  क्रेडिट मुलांचं ! सर- तुम्ही सर नाही.. मास्तरच होता. 

       सरांची आणखी एक खासियत म्हणजे लेझिम. हा लेझिम तेव्हा फक्त एक आमच्या शाळेत व्हायचा. मोठ्या स्पर्धांत वगैरे  त्याची फार तारीफ व्हायची. त्या ज्या काही स्टेप्स आणि ताल होता, तो उत्कृष्ट होता. भर दुपारी उन्हात सर मुलांसोबत  स्वत: लेझिम खेळायचे. हा लेझिम आणि ताल आम्ही आयुष्यभर विसरणे  अशक्य आहे. पुढे अनेक शाळांनी आमच्याच विद्यार्थ्यांकडून तो  बसवून घेतला. आजही काही शाळांत चालतो. आम्ही त्याला घाटी लेझिम म्हणायचो.. आणि इतरत्र जो लेझिम खेळला जातो, तो याच्या जवळपासही येत नाही. अगदी राष्ट्रीय स्पर्धांत दिल्लीला महाराष्ट्र संघाने केलेला लेझिमही याच्या जवळपास जात नाही. तेव्हा  व्हिडिओ असता तर आज याची खात्री पटवून देता आली असती. 

            सरांचा बुलंद आवाज कितीही वर्षे झाली तरी जसाच्या तसा कानात गुंजतो आहे. सर आता समोर उभे आहेत, आपण मैदानावर आहोत, मास पीटी ची तालिम सुरू आहे. सर एखाद्या मुलीला, 
"अगं म्हशी, अंग हलव- अंग हलव !" असा दम देताहेत.  
पीटीचा सातवा (खतरनाक) प्रकार सुरू आहे, त्यात वारंवार ओणवे व्हावे लागते म्हणून राम्या शेट्टी टंगळ-मंगळ करतो आहे. वाकला तर पुन्हा उठतच नाही, तसाच वाकून राहतो. नाहीतर कधी-कधी जमिनीला हात न लावता गुडघ्याला लावून उभा राहतो आहे. सरांचे लक्ष आहे. 
"आठ -सात-छे-पाच ...  चार- तीन- फिर से !"
सर सातवा प्रकार पुन:पुन्हा करायला लावताहेत. आणि आता-
"शेट्टी- नीट - खाली-वाक- पाच-छे -सात-आठ."  सुरू आहे... 
"आठ-सात- हं-हं-" आणि पुढे शेट्टीच्या पाठीवर वाजणार्‍या धपाट्यांच्या तालावर  सातवा प्रकार सुरू आहे. किंवा... 
"मी बघतोय हं ! राम्या मी बघतोय हं!" की राम्या शेट्टी सूतासारखा सरळ- 
कधीतरी-
"पुन्हा दिसलास तर पडे पर्यन्त मारीन आणि पडल्यावर ही मारीन !"
विसरणे शक्य नाही...   

         खेळात लाडके  झालो तरी सरांचे आमच्या अभ्यासाकडे लक्ष असे. आमच्या सार्‍या बाईंकडे ते वेळोवेळी आमचा अभ्यास कसा आहे याची चौकशी करत. कमी मार्क्स असतील त्याला मी संघातून काढून टाकेन ही धमकी. हा धोका कोण घेतो ? संघात नसणे ही  नापास होण्यापेक्षा भयंकर शिक्षा होती आमच्यासाठी. मग झक मारून अभ्यास करून, बाईंची कंप्लेन्ट सरांकडे जाणार नाही याची दक्षता आम्ही घ्यायचो. शिस्त, अभ्यास आणि खेळामुळे शरीर... सारे कणखर केले सरांनी. आम्हाला पोहता यायला पाहिजे हा त्यांचा  आग्रह होता. मग मोठ्या मुलांसह आम्ही शनिवारी शाळा सुटली की नॅशनल पार्कात काकडपट्टीला ! दोन तास डुबक्या मारून कपडे दगडावर वाळवून, घरी फेक मारत आम्ही पोहायला शिकलो. नुसते शिकलो नाही तर पाण्यातले मासे झालो. सगळे स्ट्रोक्स, सूर , अंडर वॉटर, प्रवाह कापणे.. सगळी तालिम झाली.  बटरफ्लाय पासून बॅकस्ट्रोक पर्यन्त सार्‍यांचे मास्टर झालो. या सार्‍या बरोबरच आमच्या वर्गाचा क्रिकेटचा संघ तयार झाला. आमच्याशी मॅच घ्यायलाच कोणी तयार नसे. घाबरायचे,  इतकी सॉलिड टीम. आंड्या (अनिल) महाजन काय बोलिंग टाकायचा माहीत नाही, पण 'आंड्या उडवतो दांडया...' हे गाणे तेव्हा पोरं सूरात म्हणायची. मी- संजू वैद्य एकदा बॅट धरली की आऊटच व्हायचो नाही. समोरच्या संघाने   कित्येकदा आमचा 100 ला नो लॉस स्कोअर असताना सामना सोडून दिलाय ! या क्रिकेटसाठी आम्हाला कन्सेशन देऊन खो-खो, कबड्डीच्या नावाखाली  बाहेर सोडायचे, सर. ( अभ्यास जोवर ठीक आहे तोवर काहीही करा !) 

         मोठे झालो तसे आम्ही खो-खो आणि कबड्डीच्या संघात आलो. सरांचे ते ट्रेनिंग  जबरदस्त होते. हात कैची- पाय कैची, मुंडी दाब , सूर पकड , साखळी ने वजन टाकणे .. ( सर स्वत: लाल मातीची कुस्ती खेळलेले. त्यातले डाव पकड करायला  वापरुन दाखवत. )  आपला सीआयडी फेम 'फ्रेड्रिक्स' दिनेश फडणीस याचा बादशहा होता. सर्व्हिस टाकताना पाय पकड कशी चुकवायची, रिंगणावरून जंप करून कसे निसटायचे हे आज लिहितानाही  शहारे येतात.  खो-खो साठी आम्हाला इतके चपळ केले, डॉजिंग , ड्रिबलिंग, सिंगल चेंन, डबल चेंन,  शेवटी रिंग टाकणे हे घोटावून घेतले तर  पकड करताना, चेन तोडणे, रिंग तोडणे,  एक पाठ सोडून  बाहेरच्यावर अचानक सूर मारणे, खुंट्यावर घेणे आणि खुंटा मारणे याचे मास्टर झालो आम्ही. खरंच  सर आमच्या या ऑलराऊंड  होण्याला किती जबाबदार होते ते आज लक्षात येतंय. या सार्‍या ट्रेनिंग नंतर  सामन्यांमध्ये आम्ही भल्या-भल्यांची भंबेरी उडवायचो. चॅम्पियन होतो आम्ही. आमच्या मनात आम्ही चॅम्पियन आहोत ही भावना जागवली सरांनी. पुढे क्रिकेटमध्ये आम्ही मुंबईभर मैदाने गाजवली, तिथे ही चॅम्पियन ठरलो. कुठल्याही क्षेत्रात उतरायचे ते चॅम्पियन बनायलाच, हे सरांनी मनावर ठसवले. अगदी राडे करायचे ते ही  प्रोफेशनली . समोरचा गुंड असला  तरी त्याला धडकी भरली पाहिजे, हे तत्व. (सर स्वत: एकेकाळी मुंबईत, त्यातही भायखळ्याला भाईगिरी करून चुकले होते ! आम्ही हत्यारे कोणती वापरायची, कुठे आणि कसे मारायचे, स्वत:ला सेफ कसे ठेवायचे हे सारे सर सांगत.  हे सारे फक्त आले अंगावर तर घेतले शिंगावर यासाठीच.. हे बजावायचे. पुढे मुंबईतल्या काही मोठ्या भाईंशी नडायचा योग आला... तो सरांच्या  शिकवणीने निभावून नेला. मोठे पंगे घेतले. मुंबईच्या भाई सर्किटमध्ये ओळखी झाल्या.  नामचीन भाईलोक  नावानिशी ओळखू लागले.  ते तेव्हढेच ठेवले.

           सरांच्या वैयक्तिक आयुष्यात गावस्करबाई आल्या. त्यांनी लग्न केले.  आम्ही शाळा सोडून पुढे गेलो तरी शाळेत खेळ शिकवायला आणि स्पर्धा निमित्ताने जाणे व्हायचे.  सर म्हणायचे, तुमच्यासारखे मातीत घोळायला तयार नाही कुणी. ही पोरं  नाही तेव्हढ्या दमाची.  मग सर रिटायर्ड झाले. भायखळ्याची राहती जागा भाच्याला दिली आणि सातार्‍याला गेले. मध्ये 2005 ला आम्ही सार्‍या विद्यार्थ्यांनी गेट टुगेदर ठरवले, शिक्षकांना बोलवायचे ठरले. सार्‍यांचे  संपर्क मिळवले. सरांना सातार्‍याला फोन केला तेव्हा त्यांची प्रकृती ठीक नसायची. फोन गावस्कर बाईंनी घेतला. सरांना म्हणाल्या आभास आहे फोनवर. सरांचा आवाज आला दे, मला आठवतोय तो !  भरभरून बोलले. प्रकृतीमुळे येता येणार नाही म्हणाले. मग आम्हीच  सातार्‍याला जायचे ठरले. गावस्कर बाईंना म्हणालो,

"सर आवाजावरून वीक वाटताहेत.. काळजी घ्या त्यांची."

बाई म्हणाल्या, "सरांना काय होतंय, त्यांची काळजी घ्यायला मी आहे ना खमकी !"

     अशा खमक्या बाई थोड्याच दिवसात... सरांच्या आधीच गेल्या. सर एकटे पडले... मुल-बाळ कोणी नाही. पुन्हा भायखळ्याला भाच्याकडे येऊन राहू लागले. आणि परवा अचानक आशीष महाजनने फोन केला... सर परवा गेले. मी जाऊन येतोय...तू येतोस का?  कामामुळे जमले नाही. तो  गेला आणि सरांचा फोटो घेऊन आला. इथे टाकावा न टाकावा... म्हातारपण कुणाला चुकलंय ... पण आमचा शेर... आमचा हीरो... अमजद खान, आम्हाला तसाच लक्षात ठेवायचा होता.. दाढीधारी, कुरळ्या केसांची बट तश्शीच. तसंच ते मान तिरपी करून भेदक नजरेने गिळून टाकणे. कणखर, दणदणीत ! पण इथे हा फोटो देतोय तो जबाबदारी म्हणून. सार्‍या विद्यार्थ्यांना त्यांचे  अंतिम काळातले दर्शन व्हावे म्हणून.

सर मला खात्री आहे की स्वर्ग आणि इतर यांच्यात वर खेळांचे सामने सुरू असतील. तुम्ही देवांना पकडी, युक्त्या शिकवत असाल. देव आणि दानवांच्या राड्यांत कुठली हत्यारे वापरायची, कुणाला कसा घ्यायचा,  राख कशी द्यायची हे तुम्ही शिकवल्याने देवांचा विजय अटळ असेल. रंभा, उर्वशी आणि इतर अप्सरांना तुम्ही घाटी लेझिम शिकवला असेल... आणि असा  प्रकार स्वर्गाने गेल्या लाखो वर्षांत पाहिला नव्हता.. हे इंद्राला देखील मान्य असेल.. सरांच्या स्मृतींना विनम्र अभिवादन.
