DECISION MAKING, (MY TAKE)…


 “Stop Worrying about Making the Right Decision.”
‘Making a decision’ is more important than making ‘Good’ decisions and
“our focus on making the “right” decision can easily lead to paralysis.”

In my training sessions I believe in simplifying the content of any of my subject to help one & all entry levels.

Here’s my take on Decision making:

1) Everyone needs to make decisions at one time or other. There’s no escape way, so be prepared.

2) Decisions making arise at time when there are at least two or more options exist.

3) No decision is ever made with a single option. When it appears, there’s always a second option of ‘Not Making’ a decision is available, which itself is a 'decision' under certain circumstances.

4) There is no tagging on the decisions beforehand, so there’s No Good or Bad decision at the time of taking one, rest there’s something like a ‘Best’ decision.

5) Every decision has some consequences attached to it. Your job is to analyze them & opt for the most reasonable one.

6) Except in certain cases, passivity or ‘Not taking a decision’ is cumbersome & often turn in to pathetic end results.

7) Every decision comes with 50-50 chance of you being ‘Right or Wrong.’ There’s no Bias.

8 ) A decision once made can be undone at the cost of Time, Capital & Resources wasted.

9) Finding the ‘Best’ solution leads to ‘Analysis Paralysis.’

10) From point one to nine it’s clear that a decision taken is opting for the most reasonable way approach to a particular task. Once opted for, sticking to the decision is second and putting all efforts to make the decision ‘Best’ is the third important way to follow.

Satyakatha- Adoption of White Liars.

White Liars- Peter Shaffer

White Liars by Peter Shaffer is an act of revelation. Revelation of truth that is, in the backdrop of the mysterious world of a fortuneteller, who really wants to help a customer. One who’s repenting his decision to bring in to his life & musical world a friend, a singer who has stolen the heart of his girlfriend. Now he wants the fortuneteller to convince the friend about all the misfortunes that may fall unto him, if he stays with the girl. To add faith in to the story, he provides the fortuneteller with all the details of his friend’s ex-life.

Once the plot sets up, an interesting act of revelation of Truth & lies unfolded to the viewers. Where it confuses the Characters, what’s true and what’s not.

While adopting, I took the Character of Baroness out from its European & Egyptian background & post her in the foreground of some forbidden temple on the outskirts of a city. Though I used the Indian classical music as background & profession of the characters as a support to the backdrop, I kept the Egyptian Crystal ball as it is, just for the sake of its visual grandeur.

The act was performed with the name of ‘Safed Jhooth’ & later changed to ‘Satyakatha’ as I felt; it’s the more appropriate title to the plot.

According to me, the act is yet unexplored.

 A one-act farce by Anton Chekhov, written in 1888-1889

The farce explores the process of getting married with sworn enmity, the Neighbor. The satire could easily be related with the marriages in middle & upper middle class with all the economical greed involved. Marriage is a means of economic gain for most people. They marry to gain wealth and possessions or to acquire social acceptance.

It so happened that at around 8.00 pm, I was informed by Dheeraj- that A Tribute to Chekhov is planned at NCPA, performing his acts and if I can do anything with ‘The Proposal’? I’d read Chekhov sometimes back but have no copy in possession. I asked when the script is needed- he replied, “We are performing, five days from now. If you give script within two days, we shall manage. I told him to collect the script, the next day morning, from his mail box, which I promptly did.

While adopting I took the premise to Chandausi near Delhi. A perfect location for the battlefield between the Chaudhary vs Thakur. I further use Hariyanvee a bit to add spice but left Punjabi of Thakur to plain Hindi. The performers further added the colloquial accent to all the characters, making the act hilarious.

Including this localization of premise, lingo & characters my contribution to the act is adding the cell ring tone hook, Dialogues with the Dog & the ‘Powdered wine’ stuffed in ‘Asthma spray.’

                                           The Concept.

26.11.2008 has now become as Black November day
in the history of India as Mumbai, the commercial capital of
India had witnessed the worst ever terrorist attack till date.
We suffered great commercial loss, death of innocent
people and noble police & military officers. 

Who did this and
why? Is a question, answer to which all of us know by now.
But we as a nation have come out of this attack on humanity
with flying colors of integrity, humanity and patriotism. ‘Dus
mein se ek’ is the story of this victory of good over evil, the
love over the hate and humanity over self centered behavior. It
gives us the message that evil has no religion no ism or no
nationality and it is the same with humanity. While sailing
so, we also have a chance of looking in to the core concept
of any religion, Islam here for the sake. And we come out
with the golden words, 

“Oh Son of the soil, love this
land as it is what have created you, it is what have
nourished you and to here where you are to rest…
amen”

( Won First Prize in Hindi One Act competition in the year 2010 in  Bangalore.  Winning Prizes for the Best Play, Beast Direction, Best Actor, Best Actress & Best Supporting Actor. The one act is translated & performed in Kannada & also Broadcasted on AIR. )
